Joyce Sliffe-Benner

Warmth, color, energy and heart describe the brilliant work of Joyce Sliffe-Benner. Flowers are her passion but she is equally at home with children, water, landscapes and whimsical nursery scenes.

Joyce is at home with almost any media; acrylic, oil, watercolor and fabric dyes. With brush in hand she makes a canvas, a wall, a screen or even a backyard fence come alive with nature's beauty. The L.A. and Carlsbad , California flower markets are second homes to Joyce; spring and summer flowers in baskets, buckets and clay pots, are her signature.

The charming, realistic quality of her floral paintings did not develop without years of study which started when she was seven, in San Diego , California . Since then she has been a teacher, a demonstrator for Delta Paint Co., a muralist, a graphic artist and her paintings hang in several galleries in Southern California .

Joyce's generous personality and love of nature are clearly evident in her work. She loves to garden and the "Monet" type appeals to her most. To observe her when she is painting flowers is to watch them "grow from her brush."

Is Joyce satisfied with her accomplishments? Never. She hopes someday to develop a more "impressionistic" look to her gardens and flowers in addition to the bold, defined technique she now enjoys.
