Betsy Chisum

To capture the play of light as it crosses through the clouds or over a
landscape, or is reflecting from the water is the enchantment that
Elizabeth ('Betsy') Chisum seeks to portray in her paintings. Often she
loves to paint glimpses of the 'treasures' she has found beach-combing or
the wildlife she observes from her home in the mountains overlooking the
desert of New Mexico. She has lived here on Coronado Island and also in
other countries including several years in the Caribbean.

The Frederick R. Weisman Museum in California featured Elizabeth's
paintings in a one-artist exhibition in 2000 following the show there of
her work in a two-artist exhibition in 1998. One of her landscapes was
placed in their permanent collection.

She has shown her work in numerous national exhibitions including the
American Royal in Kansas City, the Denver Invitational, and the George
Phippen Memorial in Arizona. She has shown her paintings in many
galleries both in the United States and abroad. She is a published author
and illustrator of children's books.
